Resin Casting - What It Is & What You Can Create

Resin casting turns liquid into solid, glass-clear material. From jewelry components to decorative objects - it's one of the most versatile techniques in our sTuDiO.

UV vs 2K Epoxy Resin

Materials & Pigments

Resin is the base - but the magic starts when you add color and inclusions:

  • Alcohol inks - intense, translucent colors with marble effect
  • Mica powders - metallic shimmer in gold, silver, copper, bronze
  • Dried flowers - encapsulated forever in clear resin
  • Metal / wood inserts - hybrid objects combining materials
  • Glow-in-the-dark pigments - glow for hours in the dark

Applications

  • Jewelry - pendants, ring inserts, resin earring drops
  • Decorative objects - coasters, bookmarks, keychains
  • Resin art - resin paintings, river table miniatures
  • Prototyping - transparent housings, display models
  • Preservation - flowers, tickets, photos encapsulated in resin

Our Process

Every cast goes through 4 stages:

  • 1. Consultation - we discuss the design + prepare the mold (silicone or 3D-printed)
  • 2. Material selection - resin type, pigments, inserts, finish
  • 3. Casting + curing - UV lamp or 24-hour chemical cure
  • 4. Finishing - demolding, sanding, polishing, optional coating
